The Better Buildings Partnership is delighted to announce that WSP will be joining as a Delivery Partner for the Design for Performance project.

On the 10th June, 2019, the BBP announced their ground-breaking partnership with NABERS (National Australian Built Environment Rating System) run by the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) to bring a ‘Design for Performance’ (DfP) culture to the UK. Design for Performance focuses on tackling the ‘performance gap’ between how buildings were designed to perform and how they actually perform with regards to energy consumption.

WSP is a UK leading engineering and professional services firm that has over 8,000 experts across a variety of disciplines within the built environment. With “future-thinking” at the heart of WSP’s offering, the firm aligns with such a project as this that focuses on the technical details of sustainability.

WSP brings the number of engineering firm delivery partners up to 12 and the firm will be supporting the BBP in the technical delivery of DfP principles.

BBP CEO Sarah Ratcliffe has said, “In light of the UK Government commitment to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, DfP provides a tangible and practical market-based response to the performance gap. It matches rhetoric with action enabling building owners to deliver better buildings that can secured significant improvements in energy efficiency and provides a genuine pathway to zero carbon offices in the UK.”
