Shaftesbury’s Sustainable Refurbishment at 39 William IV Street

Shaftesbury chose 39 William IV Street to test the feasibility of achieving BREEAM Very Good on domestic refurbishments in older buildings. The completed scheme will deliver 576m2 of modern residential accommodation and 405m2 of restaurant space, all with high operational efficiency. As a result of the project, Shaftesbury now plans to target BREEAM Very Good on more domestic refurbishments, as well as commercial schemes.

Low Carbon Workplace’s Refurbishment of Kew Road

In 2014 the Low Carbon Workplace undertook a refurbishment which improved the building’s EPC rating from an F to a B and was awarded a BREEAM rating of Excellent.

Hammerson’s LED Rollout at Bullring Cuts Costs and Carbon

At Bullring, Hammerson upgraded the lighting with 5,420 new LED lights. Payback is expected within 4.5 years. As the most energy-hungry asset within the portfolio, efficiency has been a key focus area and the LEDs have resulted in substantial savings. At a cost of £1.5 million, this was a significant investment, but payback is expected within 4.5 years.

Developed by Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, the refurbished properties give customers the best of both worlds – the appeal of a period home at a quality above new build. Building on the success of this project, Grosvenor is already upgrading more buildings to the EnerPHit Passivhaus standard.

BREEAM Excellent for Legal & General's Refurbishment of 6 Agar Street

Legal & General Real Asset's major refurbishment project at 6 Agar Street achieved a BREEAM Excellent sustainability rating. Sustainability features are set to reduce absolute CO2 emissions by 60% compared o the existing building and water use by 39% per person.
