Shaftesbury’s Wild West End Greening of Soho School

As a key local partner for Soho Parish Primary School, Shaftesbury helped the school raise funds for a major playground redevelopment. The new multi-storey scheme has dramatically increased outdoor playable areas for schoolchildren in this central London location. Shaftesbury has also helped bring the space to life, introducing ecological enhancements such as sedum pods, bird boxes and insect habitats.

Shaftesbury Attracts Pollinators to Carnaby

Following the launch of the Wild West End biodiversity collaboration with other property owners, Shaftesbury has implemented a Pollinator project across Carnaby. Initiatives include installing 25 mixed-species sedum pods on service roofs and planting pollinator friendly species in 635 window boxes, 98 planters and 46 hanging baskets.

Shaftesbury’s Sustainable Refurbishment at 39 William IV Street

Shaftesbury chose 39 William IV Street to test the feasibility of achieving BREEAM Very Good on domestic refurbishments in older buildings. The completed scheme will deliver 576m2 of modern residential accommodation and 405m2 of restaurant space, all with high operational efficiency. As a result of the project, Shaftesbury now plans to target BREEAM Very Good on more domestic refurbishments, as well as commercial schemes.

Shaftesbury’s Sustainable Retrofit at 22 Ganton Street

The project exemplifies the company’s proactive approach to asset management and commitment to the long-term sustainability of its buildings. By retaining 99% of the building’s structure and 80% of its façade, Shaftesbury significantly reduced the amount of new materials required and cut construction waste, minimising environmental impacts and generating cost savings.
