Green Roofs in Central London

When British Land first included green roofs in its Sustainability Brief for Developments in 2004, the firm needed to work closely with its design partners and property teams to design, plant and maintain habitats that really enhanced biodiversity. Since then, British Land has created green roofs on 12 new buildings in central London, with more under design, and has successfully retrofitted them to three existing buildings.

Energy Centre at Spring Mews

Thanks to a highly efficient, low-carbon energy centre at Spring Mews in Vauxhall, CLS Holding’s new mixed-use development substantially exceeded its planning consent target of 25% better carbon efficiency than Part L 2010 Building Regulations as well as minimising environmental impacts and offering low energy costs to occupiers.

British Land's Fit-out Waste Guidelines

Land Securities' PV Installation at Gunwharf Quays

At Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth, Land Securities has installed the largest array of photovoltaic roof panels on any UK shopping centre. This is set to produce 280,000 kWh of clean power in the first year, with payback within 10 years. It will cut CO2 emissions by 3,750 tonnes and will save around £1.5 million on electricity costs over the next 25 years.
