Columbia Threadneedle Real Estate Partners

Columbia Threadneedle Real Estate Partners was formed as a result of the acquisition of BMO Real Estate Partners, members of the BBP since October 2019, by Columbia Threadneedle Investments, itself associated with the BBP through a partnership with Stanhope and the Carbon Trust in the form of the Carbon Neutral Real Estate Fund.  Columbia Threadneedle’s commitment to and membership of the BBP continues following this period of transition.

A subsidiary of Ameriprise, the US based financial services firm, Columbia Threadneedle Real Estate Partners is part of the Alternatives business that is focussed on direct real estate managing assets worth some £7.1 billion (as at 31 December 2022) across Europe for a range of institutional, private wealth, and retail investor clients.

A clear and consistent client centricity lies at the heart of our real estate offering. We curate investment strategies across the risk v return spectrum to suit client expectations on investment performance, sustainability outcomes, liquidity and leverage. These strategies then deploy capital either thematically, focused on favoured sectors or themes, or are dynamically balanced to provide exposure across a range of sectors or geographies.

Proprietary quantitative and qualitative research insights are shared across the direct real estate and listed real estate equity teams as well as other teams in our organisation to support Columbia Threadneedle’s thoughtful set of active and passive real estate solutions.

Investing in real estate responsibly is complementary to our core objective of delivering strong, sustainable returns for clients. Underpinned by a robust real estate specific ESG governance structure that captures innovation and education, co-ordination and alignment with business principles and local implementation of solutions, responsible practice is everyone’s responsibility and the dedicated ESG team is well positioned to inform and advise senior leadership on progress and direction.
